Two terms that are frequently used to describe contemporary art guided us in the selection of works for our exhibition. Yet they did not serve to limit this selection as the illustration of a given theme. On the contrary, they became an inspiration to look at works – created between 1900 and 2019 – from a broader perspective.
The numerous works on loan enable an often unexpected coincidence of the forms of expression and artists’ names. Special qualities and similarities are on vivid display. The exhibition primarily features small formats, mostly consisting of works on paper.
Other artists in the exhibition:
René Victor Auberjonois (1872–1957), Alighiero Boetti (1940–1994), Lucio Fontana (1899–1968), Eva Hesse (1936–1970), Ferdinand Hodler (1853–1918), Will Insley (1929–2011), Otto Meyer–Amden (1885–1933), Henri Michaux (1899–1984), Giorgio Morandi (1890–1964), Jan Schoonhoven (1914–1994), Louis Soutter (1871–1942), Georges Vantongerloo (1886–1965), Jacques Villon (1875–1963)

Manfred Werder: “ein(e) ausführende(r) seiten 1 – 4000 (1999 – 2015)”
Update: Manfred Werder
The composer Manfred Werder updates some pages from his score
“ein(e) ausführende(r) seiten 1 – 4000 (1999 – 2015)”.
The score consists of 4000 pages with a total duration of 533 hours 20 minutes and is played on the whole just once, page after page and intermittently.
Each time unit in the score updates in this way a specific place and a certain time and is basically unrepeatable.
