Since 1974, Annemarie Verna Gallery has had the privilege of accompanying Richard Tuttle's life and work through 21 solo exhibitions, numerous group exhibitions, publications and editions.
The current exhibition, "Richard Tuttle – 50 Years of Collaboration", is a testament to the fruitful artistic and intellectual exchange between the artist and our gallery.
Part II
The exhibition was supplemented with the replacement of several works. All the works in room 2 have been replaced and three works in room 4, which complement the previous installation.

Text by Richard Tuttle for the exhibition 50 Years of Collaboration, 2024
Yes, it is 50 years since coming to Zurich and beginning a collaboration with the Vernas. “Collaboration” is a carefully chosen word. It is unusual and accurate, for the “gallery” has taken on its own definition. I am happy and proud to have a part. It grew into itself, like a tree that is always challenged with not enough space, water, sunlight, etc. To have brought something from far away, was a secret shared between the swans and I, disembarking on the sleet and icy streets, the first night in Zurich. Now, it is 50 years. No secret, anymore.
During the course of these years-- so well documented in the compilation of The Complete Interviews-- Dieter Schwarz appears as a singularly important part. The rarity of his numerous skills and their combination, adding it to a work ethic of and with prodigious amounts of energy, makes him an asset to the entire art world and to his times. He would be the first to admit the importance of the Verna's work for him.
A collaboration is not a representation. It is a much warmer thing and requires at least two participants. The present showing of my works is my “half”. Just as I wish I could be in Zurich right now, I wish my half of the collaboration gives itself in little hints of memory, in major hints of ambition, in full hints of love of humanity, in hints of truth, in revelation, in aspirations, not allowable, in wishes too big for words, in light of such an abundance as to not to fear darkness anymore, to hints of love for the next, and next, artist, and to thanks for all the support this collaboration has been given and its voice that reaches out with meaning to a whole world.
